Spiritual Journey: A Complete Guide on How to Awaken Your Spiritual Self

Spiritual Journey: A Complete Guide on How to Awaken Your Spiritual Self

“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop.” – Rumi

Who am I?

What am I here for?

Where did I come from?

Where will I go after this?

At one point or another, we all ask ourselves (and struggle to answer) these questions. Curiosity is part of our nature, and we seek to find answers about who and what we are, and what our purpose for being is.

For many of us, these questions stem from us realizing there has to be more than the physical world, body, and mind.

And there is!

Each of us has a spiritual self that is connected to our physical self, Source energy, and the universe as a whole.

Here’s how you can begin your spiritual journey and awaken your spiritual self:

Let Your Intuition Lead

You know that small voice inside of your head, the one that guides you through every decision you make and always seems to be talking?

It’s the voice of your intuition — your internal compass through this physical life experience — and the more often you listen to it, and allow it to guide you, the louder it becomes. This, in turn, creates a stronger connection between your physical self, and non-physical self thereby catapulting you forward on your spiritual journey and allowing you to awaken your spirituality.

Get into the habit of allowing your intuition to lead.

Sit in Silence

“Silence isn’t empty, it’s full of answers.”

When you’re constantly surrounded by noise (both internally and externally) it’s hard to get clarity, and find focus.

You end up completely distracted by your thoughts and the world around you.

That’s why silence is so powerful. It allows you to completely turn off everything — internally and externally — and just be.

When you master the ability to sit in silence, connecting with your spiritual self will become second nature.

Live with an open heart

At one point or another (or perhaps many times), you will experience hurt in your life. Maybe a relationship ends. Or a loved one passes away. Or another difficult situation arises.

And when you’re going through this period, you’ll ask yourself, “Why is this happening?” and “How can I possibly recover from this?”.

As you move through this period of your life, you must remember to live with an open heart because if you close your heart, you close yourself off to love too, and close yourself off to your spiritual journey and higher self.

Life is full of unexpected happenings and events, and you can either be defined by those events and allow them to limit you, or you can choose to live with an open heart and always let love into your life.

Look within

Imagine you misplace your keys somewhere inside of your house. And although you know they’re inside your house, you spend your time searching for them outside of your house.

This scenario might sound silly, but the reality is many of us do this very thing when it comes to finding our true, spiritual selves. We look externally for answers and identity, rather than within.

Your spiritual self is within you. It always has been, and always will be.

Release Attachments

Spirituality: A Guide on How to Awaken Your Spiritual Self

Everything and everyone you think you “need” in order to live is an attachment. Let go of everything that keeps you solely focused on the material world.

Now, this doesn’t mean you don’t give love, maintain meaningful relationships, or take care of your responsibilities. Instead, it means you let people be who and what they are without getting attached to how they act, what they’re doing, or trying to control them.

What’s more — where material assets are concerned, release your need to constantly acquire “more” and instead appreciate what you have. The constant need for more creates an insatiable appetite to hoard and ends up making you a slave to money and things thereby disrupting your spiritual journey and connection to your higher self.

Be a light in the world

It’s so easy to get sucked into gossiping about people and judging them, but honestly when has doing this ever added anything positive to your life, or the lives of others?

It hasn’t.

Rather than judging others, or speaking badly about them, or turning the other cheek when you see someone who could use a helping hand, opt instead to be a light in the world.

Your true, spiritual self is a self of wholeness and love. To awaken that part of you, help others as often as you can. Perform random acts of kindness just because. And always choose to be loving.

Love is where your soul sits. And love is how you awaken it from its earthly slumber.

Above all remember, you are so much more than your body and physical identity. You are a powerful, infinite, limitless, spiritual being who at any point in time can choose to begin your spiritual journey and awaken your spiritual self. The only question is, are you ready?

    1. wow, that was really lovely, thanks.

I enjoyed the post because, based on my knowledge of the spiritual world, which I can’t wait to get into fully, everything you said is 💯% correct.

I’ve looked within for many years; also, I’ve concentrated on silence for many years—and the result: I’ve shed off a lot of “inner weight” till my inner core seems to be light and floating. with calmness, happiness, ease, optimism, etc, etc.

The only problem I have is that I won’t be able to interact one-on-one with many of you until we get into the real spiritual part of life—”the spiritual world 😄.

However, we will meet there after this brief physical life. No formal introductions needed. ❤️❤️❤️

  1. Absolutely amazing post. This sentence alone really hit me… “Love is where your soul sits. And love is how you awaken it from its earthly slumber.”
    Thank you!

    1. I’m so happy it resonated with you and you enjoyed it!

Sending you an abundance of love! Xx,
