Success: 4 Fool-Proof Ways To Break Through Self-Limiting Beliefs For Good

“Remember: we get what we tolerate. So stop tolerating excuses within yourself, limiting beliefs of the past or half-assed or fearful states.” – Tony Robbins

Look at any successful person and you’ll see they all have one thing in common: an unwavering belief in themselves and their abilities to achieve their dreams regardless of what circumstances they were born into, what challenges they go through or what other people think of them.

They don’t make excuses for why they don’t do things and they don’t listen to all the noise around them. They just do the things they need to do to get to where they want to be.

But many of us believe we’re different from these people; We believe we’re not worthy, or we’re incapable of accomplishing greatness. And when play host to negative, self-limiting beliefs such as these we end up unintentionally stunting our true potential rather than realizing it.

That’s why it’s so important we’re all consciously aware of our own self-limiting beliefs so we’re able to overcome them. Are you ready to overcome yours?

Here’s how:

1.) Identify a Self-limiting Belief You Want to Change

Success: 4 fool-proof ways to break through limiting self-beliefs

“I can’t be my real self or I’ll be judged.”

“I can’t take chances because the risks are too great. What if I fail?”

“I can’t do X, Y, Z because (insert self-limiting belief).”

How often do statements like the above pop up in your head?

For many of us, this is a daily occurrence. We silently drown our dreams and purpose — too afraid to pursue them because we’re afraid of being judged or failing, or we lack the belief it takes to align with our true calling.

But, here’s the thing: if you want to change your life, you have to begin with your beliefs.

Starting right now, ask yourself: “What beliefs are holding me back from achieving the things I want to achieve?”

Write down your answer(s).

2.) Determine How the Belief Limits You

Next, you need to figure out HOW your beliefs are limiting you.

For example, let’s say you want to get a Bachelor’s degree but have never been a “good” student in the past and are worried you won’t be able to finish school and you’ll end up in a mound debt. Once you’ve identified this belief, define how it’s holding you back from accomplishing your other goals.

How does not having a Bachelor’s degree impact your career, life, and future?

Write down your answer(s).

3.) Decide How You Want to Act, Be or Feel

When one starts to visualize the impossible, one begins to see it as possible.” Cherie Carter Scott

Now that you know what beliefs are holding you back, and HOW they’re holding you back, it’s time to shift direction:

Close your eyes and visualize yourself accomplishing your specific dreams. How will you feel? What will those accomplishments add to your life? How will your future be altered?

Allow yourself to really see and feel that thing you want as if it’s real, and then write down your answer(s) to the questions above.

4.) Create an Empowering Mantra Allows You to Be, Act or Feel This New Way

This is the fourth and final step in breaking through your self-limiting beliefs! Now, it’s time for you to create an empowering mantra that’ll allow you to be, act or feel this new way.

Going back to the college example — if you know you want to get your Bachelor’s degree, and you know doing so will allow you to enjoy a better career, have more opportunities and receive better compensation then your mantra might be something like:

“I am smart and fully capable of going to college and graduating. I know once I have my degree I’ll have access to better jobs and higher pay. This will impact me because I’ll be able to save money, enjoy financial freedom and feel a sense of purpose and accomplishment in my life.”

Pro-tip: Make sure you say your mantra at least 3 times every day so it becomes engrained in your subconscious mind!

Above all remember, the only limits that exist are the ones you impose upon yourself. You are powerful. You are capable. And it’s up to you to make the changes you want to see in your life.

Are you ready?

      1. I love reading your posts but I have yet to go though the email you sent me but it is definitely on my list 😀

  1. The biggest mistake, we as humans make, is not realizing that we, not anyone else, place limit on ourselves. Perhaps this post will serve to encourage others to drop those little limits. 🌺🌹🌺

    1. You are 100% correct, and when we don’t realize this we disempower ourselves to the fullest degree! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment Mr. Mel! I adore your words of wisdom! Big love to you, Xx!
