Stop struggling! Create your life's vision with ease!
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it.” – Leon Brown
How many of us excitedly set New Year’s resolutions, feeling confident this will be the year we *actually* follow through with them?
For many of us, what holds us back from achievement isn’t what we aren’t doing…it’s what we are doing.
Here are 15 things you need to give up if you want to achieve your resolutions this year:
1.) The Need to Be Perfect
Perfection doesn’t exist. Move past this controlled ideal that everything you say and do has to be “perfect”. Living in a world where perfectionism is idealized will slow you do and prevent you from taking action.
2.) Procrastination
You gotta start somewhere, and in all cases, the best time to start is right now.
Replace the phrases, “I’ll get to it later” and “I’ll do it tomorrow” with, “If I keep putting this off I’ll never get to it” and see how that feels.
Sometimes reality bites. But, we all need a kick in the behind from time to time to get moving!
3.) Self-limiting Beliefs
Whether you think you can or think you can’t, either way, you’re right.
That’s why it’s crucial you give up your self-limiting beliefs because they are doing nothing for you, except holding you back from personal greatness.
The day you decide you’re enough as you are, and you can do it is the day your real life begins. So what are you waiting for?

4.) Setting Goals to Appease Others
I don’t care who you are or where you’re from if you set goals to appease others you’re never going to end up living the life you want to live.
This isn’t your mom’s life, or your dads, or your grandmas, or your friend’s, or your co-worker’s. This is YOUR life, so set goals because YOU want to achieve them, not because other people want you to.
5.) Self-Denial
If you want to know yourself, you need to explore yourself. Give up the need to conform to what everyone else is doing, and learn to forge your own path.
Who are you? What do you want out of this life?
Ask yourself these questions every day, and never forget that you are an extraordinary being put on this earth for a purpose. But you can only discover that purpose if you stop denying your truth.
6.) Playing it Safe
You can’t win big in your life if you aren’t willing to take chances and explore the world. Give up the need to always be comfortable, and instead, replace your personal comfort with exploration.
You aren’t meant to live as a dog fenced into a backyard. Go explore the world and find out what you enjoy — this will help you discover more about yourself, and what you want from this life.
7.) Negative Self-talk
“I’m not good at (insert thing).”
“I’m too old to do (insert thing).”
“I don’t have enough experience for (insert thing).”
If you want to achieve your goals, then you NEED to give up negative self-talk. It ruins your self-esteem and makes you believe you’re unworthy of achievement.
Every time you think or say something negative about yourself, immediately say or think three things you’re good at/that you love about yourself.
8.) Seeing Yourself as a Victim
Every person walking this planet has experienced personal hardships and challenging times. And in every difficult situation, there’s always a choice: see yourself as a victim of circumstance and wallow in self-pity, or learn from life and move forward.
If you want to achieve your goals, give up the need to always be a victim. Sometimes bad things happen. Sometimes life is challenging. But if you’re always a victim, you’ll find yourself living in a disempowering and unforgiving world where you’ll never win. And who wants that?
9.) Holding Grudges
Maybe your parents abandoned you, maybe your partner cheated on you, maybe your best friend spread lies about you.
Let go of the need to hold grudges against past situations and people who’ve hurt or wronged you. Grudges hold you back from greatness, not other people.
The most empowering thing you can do for yourself is to heal, forgive and move on with your life. Doing this will clear your mind, and allow you to focus on bringing positive situations and people into your life.
10.) Trying To Do Everything at Once
It’s good to have a lot of interests, and big dreams. It’s also good to dabble in different things to understand more about what you enjoy doing, and what you’re good at.
But, if you want to achieve your goals, you need to stop trying to do everything at once so you can instead focus on mastering each interest you have.
11.) Viewing Challenges As “Problems”
Many times, what we perceive as “challenges” are really just opportunities to learn from life, and be re-directed by it. But, when our perception is clouded and we see every bump in the road as the death of our goals and dreams, we’re more likely to give up an feel victimized by life.
Change your perception, and start seeing your challenges as opportunities. You’ll be amazed by the doors that begin to open up that you never knew were available to you…
12.) Refusing to Learn from Life
Life is a wise teacher. She’s patient, understanding and willing to teach the same lesson over and over again until it becomes digestible to her students.
That’s why many of the same patterns and people show up in our lives — albeit with different faces and names. In order to break the cycle, extract the lesson life is trying to teach you and move forward. Doing so will allow you to move onto the “next level” of life, and bring you closer to your dreams and goals.
13.) Not Finishing What You Started
All of us have started something we haven’t finished, probably more often than we’d like to admit. But, when we do this habitually, we get in the mindset that it’s okay to give up or quit when we get bored or things get tough because it feels normal to us.
If you want to reach your goals, you need to give up the urge to quit before what you’ve started is finished. Push yourself to follow through, and you’ll build a strong foundation of personal achievement.
And the best part? The more you achieve, the more momentum you’ll gain along the way which will propel you even further.
14.) Giving up Too Soon
Giving up too soon on your goals is like planting a seed into the ground, watering it for a few days and then getting disappointed when you wake up a week later and discover it’s not yet a tree.
Results take time and when you give up too soon on your dreams and goals, you prevent them from coming into fruition. If you have something you’d like to do, achieve or have, then continue to believe in it, and eventually it will happen for you.
15.) Lack of Belief in Your Dreams
If you have the mentality of, “I’ll believe it when I see it” then it’s going to be hard for you to achieve much of anything in life.
Whenever you have a goal or dream, always adopt the mentality of “I believe in (insert) and I know one day when it’s time, I’ll see it.”
Maintain an unshakable belief in your goals and dreams, and they will come into fruition.
By giving up these 15 things, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running in 2019 and see your goals through from inception to manifestation. And truly, what’s more rewarding than seeing your dreams turn into reality?
