When she was just 18-years-old, Dr. Tererai Trent was a married mother of four who hadn’t even finished high school and was living a life of poverty and struggle.
But that all changed one day when a woman named Jo Luck came to her village and asked her a question she’d never been asked before: “What are your dreams?”
At the time, Dr. Tererai Trent was expecting her fifth child, stuck in an abusive relationship and had no money or foreseeable opportunities. And yet, Dr. Tererai Trent still expressed her desire to move to America and get a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and PhD, to which Jo Luck replied, “If you believe in your dreams, they are achievable.”
